The huge topic of discussion about steroids in sports never touched the sport of Baseball. Till 2002 Major league baseball players were never tested for use of the drug. Also till 2004, nobody heard of any punishment to any player for the use of steroids in baseball. A lot of players in this sport in the past have admitted to using Androstenedione and Winstrol. This includes the likes of Mark McGwire and others in their team.

Nowadays it is very easy to buy steroids online. A lot of youngsters who are still not into any professional sport have started using it. A system shoould be put into place where these tests to be carried out at every level and not only at the highest level of a sport.

THG a human growth hormone which works like a steroid was used in the past and tests could not detect the presence of the same. There is a debate on Legal Steroids and ones that must be banned for good, but there is a thin line and to distinguish one from another in this modern world could get near impossible.

Improve your health with boxing

Although it is a bit hard to acknowledge it, I believe that I first decided to get started on boxing while I was wearing a pair of shiny red tights while holding in my hands what could only be described as a fake purple boa. It’s not so strange really, it all started a few years ago when I was invited to a stag party for my friend Roland and I was picking between several fancy dress costumes since we were told that we couldn’t attend in our casual clothes. My friend was known for his love for practical jokes and his twisted sense of humour, so it was no surprise that he even recommended a mens fancy dress business that rented very humiliating costumes.

The 4 basic boxing punches

Jab

This is the busiest punch. You can use it to keep your opponent at bay and disrupt his concentration. It is delivered with your lead hand.

Uppercut

A powerful vertical swing of the arm, meant to put your opponent off balance and, if you are lucky, do some serious damage.

Cross

A follow up punch done with either hand after an initial blow.

Hook

A punch thrown with your lead hand. It is a short and lateral strike with a twist of the wrist just before impact.

Looking myself in the mirror while I tried some of the costumes, I didn’t like what I saw. It was not that the clothes were not to my satisfaction (well, they weren’t actually) but I found that I was really disgusted with my bland and neglected body and decided that it was time to get myself in shape. I knew a friend who had been boxing for some years so I decided to ask him for advice in order to get myself started. In the following weeks I found out what I would need in order to start my training and all that would be involved in it. Let me tell you the basics:

First you will need to find time to practise. This is a must, you need to set aside and commit time that will be devoted to this activity. Also you need to find a proper facility to train in. Most gyms (and some health clubs) will have the equipment you will need to train your body, but you will also need special equipment related to boxing. This equipment includes jump ropes, medicine balls, punching bags, weights, exercise mats, mirrors, and possibly a boxing ring.

After you get your gear and secure a place to train you can finally start your conditioning program. As a word of caution, please note that it will take you from a few months to a year to actually be prepared to box, this is common and it doesn’t mean that you’re never going to be able to do it. You will need hours of practice with the jump rope, training your footwork, working the punching bag and learning the basic punches. The main thing is to train your endurance, strength and agility, which are all essential for boxing. So don’t give up if the going gets rough.

You will find that boxing is a great sport to keep your body in good shape. It doesn’t matter how you make the choice to be healthy, just that you make it. Whether it is like me, while trying out a fancy dress, or in any other situation in your life, staying fit will pay off no matter what!

What tickets would you dream of getting in your hands ? The World cup ? No. The Final of NHL … NO ! Its definitely the Super Bowl 2008 Tickets that you would want to get in your hands before the event starts.

The Super Bowl has almost become a world event now but getting tickets for the event is even harder now. The prices of the limited number of tickets that are now sold openly to the public are very high and definitely above the reach of the common fans.

Most of us are thrown a back by the prices and are forced to watch the game on our TV sets. There is no choice but go by the law of the world.

There are lots of lotteries you can take part in to win these tickets but you winning in them is pretty improbable!

1. Jab Tap - This is one you must learn the first. Learning it the hard way is the best for you and for your future in boxing.

2. Create opening with opportunities - You must always try and create openings where the opponent is week and doesnt like to be targetted. This will help you force more damage on your opponenent and will also save a lot of your weight loss.

3. Blocking is a very crucial thing is boxing. It is as important as knowing how to box. A box saved by blocking adds up at the end of the match and will always play in your favor.

Which is the last boxing match you went for ? I have not gone for a boxing match, but love watching them on TV. Although i m planning to go for one which is in Boulder next to the Boulder real estate agent of mine. Lets see how it goes.

The match is Steve Clarke vs Tommy Harvis and it definitely is going to be a tough fight. I am expecting a lot of words to be spoken before the match by Tommy’s coach who’s apprentice is surely the underdog. The intensity of this match is going to be great. Both the boxers are up for it and none have had a good time in the sport for the last few months. They are going to be at it, im sure..

Lets wait and watch as to what happens in this match,!

Vegas is a great place to visit and you better get there before the fun is out from the planning. The Hotels in Las Vegas are definitely pretty expensive, but you can find hotels a little far from the strip but close enough to enjoy the fun. ( More info in the visit las vegas guide )

The hotels in Vegas make their money from the gambling activities going on in their hotel. The public transport system in Vegas is pretty good, the taxis are not that expensive and buses are available at all times. This removes the need to rent expensive cars which kill your budget.

Las Vegas is a Fun place, you can go there with your family or even your wife/husband. It is even a good place to get married. So get going, put on your tough to judge poker face and go there!

Peter Manfredo Jr. is still awaiting his return to the ring, as well as the first defense of his International Boxing Union (IBU) junior middleweight world title. Manfredo won the title via 7th round knockout over former world champ Frankie Randall. “I’m as sharp as ever and I can’t wait to be back,” said an eager Manfredo. Along with Ray Oliviera, I was supposed to headline the January 11 “Winter Warriors” card in Providence, but unfortunately those plans fell through when I was sidelined by a bout with the flu.”

The goal that all boxers dream of, is one that only a handful of special athletes in the prizefighting business can ever achieve. Manfredo believes in his heart that he has what it takes. “I want to be The junior middleweight champion of the world and until that happens I will have not reached my ultimate goal,” admitted Manfredo.

Manfredo says he has been doing a lot of sparring to keep busy. “My dad trains Ray Oliviera and we sparred countless rounds prior to his fight on Jan 11th. On Wednesday I sparred with WBA #1 ranked welterweight Jose Antonio Rivera and except for each time I came back from working with Fernando Vargas in Big Bear, CA, I feel like I’ve never been more on top of my game.”

On Friday February 7th, Manfredo will be on hand at the 25th annual Special Olympics Rhode Island Sports Celebrity Carnival. “The Special Olympics of Rhode Island is one of the most deserving charities in New England. Their longevity speaks for itself,” said Manfredo’s publicist Rob Soucy. We look forward to doing whatever we can to help their cause for years to come.

The conference is still going on, but I just thought I would give you my comments so far.

Freddie and Tyson seem to be working well, but this is only a one fight deal. Freddie says that Tyson is running and he’s pushing him. Tyson hasn’t worked this hard since Cus.

Freddie is not trying to reinvent Mike Tyson, simply help him out. Mike is in great shape weighing about 220lbs, although Freddie would like to see him a little beigger.

Everyone is basically asking the same questions in different forms, so I’ll just give you the rest. Mike is looking to put a hurting on the Black Whino. He wants to get back at Lewis. Mike will be using his jab more but basically is going to use his power to blow away the Black Whino.

Maybe it’s me, but I’m a little sceptical about what blowing away a certified bum like Etienne is going to prove. If Etienne goes to sleep in 1 round will that make me want to buy Lewis-Tyson II? I think Tyson needs a win over a big name, not a C fighter.

FINAL NOTE, FREDDIE ROACH IS PICKING RUIZ OVER JONES!!! Freddie said Ruiz will have to adjust immediately to Jones speed. Jones doesn’t KO people with power, but with punches you don’t see. If Ruiz adjusts quickly then he mugs Jones for a few rounds then puts him to sleep.

That’s all regarding the conference. Watch a few sites try to pass this conference call as “Exclusive Interview with Mike Tyson”.

There is just something about witnessing a knockout punch that is unrivaled by any other sport. Football has the jarring blind-side hit by a defensive player on an unsuspecting ball carrier, baseball has the dramatic walk-off home run to end a long game, and basketball has the high-flying slam dunk which lights up an arena. However, none of these plays rival the knockout’s sheer suddenness and impact. To take a line from the cult-classic film Friday, there is no event like watching someone get “knocked the f***k out!”

Top ten lists have been overused and are often too long. As I result, I have narrowed my list down to five. Here are “the top five reasons we love the knockout:”

1. Whether we like it or not, seeing someone knocked unconscious is the simple re-enactment of one of the most primal responses known to man - violence. No one has ever admitted to wanting to watch a train wreck, but they can’t take their eyes off one either - the appeal of watching a knockout is no different.

2. Prize-fighting epitomizes the popular phrase “mano-y-mano.” In comparison to other sports, the power associated with knocking out an opponent is unmatched. When you knock someone out, you are not only the master of your domain (the ring), you have also mastered your opponent figuratively and literally by beating them into submission.

3. Knockouts are definitive outcomes - not bound by any subjective criteria used to determine the winner of a match. Cries of foul play, inept judges or controversial decisions need not apply. The winning fighter’s fists are the judge and jury when the opponent is left “seeing stars.”

4. The simplicity of knockouts is a quality that can not be understated. It’s what I call the “least common denominator” aspect of boxing - a simple, yet dramatic, close that even a non-sports fan can understand. It is much easier to re-tell the events leading to a guy getting KO’d as opposed to how many receiving yards a running back gained, how many three-pointers a hoopster netted, or how many unearned runs a pitcher yielded. And it makes for much more interesting water cooler conversation.

5. A knockout leads to the conclusion of a fight. The finality of a felled opponent not beating the 10-count is as clear as Vodka, the fight is over. There is no need for an overtime or extra-innings…that’s all folks.

Muay Thai Kickboxing is often referred to as the science of 8 limbs. The reason for this title is the fact that you use nearly every body part as a weapon. You can strike with your forehead, elbows, fists, Knees, Shins and feet. Muay Thai Kickboxing was invented over 2000 years ago and is recognized as one of the oldest martial arts known to man. Although records of Muay Thai fights only date back to 700 years ago, there is a general consensus that Muay Thai originated over 2000 years ago in the part of Asia that is now inhabited by China.

Muay Thai is known as the martial art of “kings” because in 1411 when a king by the name of Sen Muajng Ma died, his sons literally fought to the death for his throne, using the techniques of muay thai. Many kings were known to not only train in the martial art of Muay Thai but also to compete. The only problem is that it was viewed as improper to touch an emperor much less strike one. So a king by the name Phra Buddha Choa Sua used to enter various Muay Thai tournaments dressed as a peasant in order to fool both the audience and his opponents. He not only won all his matches, he eventually defeated the national champion.

The majority of the world refers to Muay Thai as Thai boxing. Although Thai boxing’s most recent claim to fame is from John Claude Van Dam and other various movies, this martial art is regarded as one of the most brutal forms of self defense. Thailand has been known to hold open challenges pitting other forms of standup fighting against their Thai boxers. Most Thai fighters are heavily out weighed in these matches but still manage to destroy their opponents due to the various ways of attacking. No other martial art trains you to use every limb to attack and most other martial arts limit their striking area to above the waist. In Thai boxing you are allowed to kick, punch and knee your opponent’s legs. Many opponents who are unaccustomed to receiving leg kicks literally lose the match due to the excruciating pain as a result of the technique.

Thai boxing is not known as the most vicious martial art for no reason. Thai boxers train their kicks in a manner that when you are struck by them it literally feels like someone has swung a baseball bat. Thai boxers tend to focus on a few effective techniques and master them rather then wasting energy on some of the flashier techniques found in other martial arts. In addition to being an effective martial art and the official self defense system of the Thai national army, Muay Thai is one of the best cardiovascular workouts you will ever partake in. Many aerobic studios incorporate Thai boxing techniques into their workouts. As you can see if you want to kill two birds with one stone by both learning how to defend yourself and getting yourself into great shape, Thai boxing is a martial art that’s definitely worth taking a look at.
